Randy Moss singled out for occasional marijuna use
In what was probably the worst career move he’s ever made, Randy Moss admitted to the occasional use of marijuana in an HBO sports interview.
Randy Moss may regret he was ever frank while on camera.
The Oakland Raiders receiver is waiting to hear from the NFL if he’ll be placed in the league’s drug program, ESPN reported on Monday. Four years ago, Moss entered the program and was tested up to 10 times a month.
Last month, Moss told HBO Sports that he still smokes marijuana, albeit occasionally. After that interview, ESPN reported that Dr. Rick Spodafora, the NFL’s medical director, called Moss in for testing.
But Moss reportedly refused the test. Fox Sports reported that his attorney, David Cornwall, set up a meeting to lobby on Moss’ behalf that his interview did not constitute grounds to be tested.
Spodafora, who is independent of both the NFL and the National Football League Players’ Association, is still considering Moss’ argument. No timetable has yet been set for a decision. If Spodafora rules that Moss can be tested and the wideout still refuses, Moss could be suspended since suspensions could come from two missed drug tests — as Moss has already refused to participate in one.
Good lord, you’d think the guy used steroids or something. For the sake of consistency, they should also crack down on the use of other performance-hindering drugs like alcohol and tobacco. Visit the prolific Radical Russ for more on this and other drug-related topics.
