America’s war on candy?
From The Monitor, McAllen, Texas:
The next target of the anti-drug hysteria that stems from our nation’s drug war could well be something many Americans have never heard of: marijuana-flavored lollipops. Marketed by several makers under names such as “Pot Suckers” or “Chronic Candy,” the suckers contain no THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. But that doesn’t stop rabid drug warriors and well-meaning activists who worry that pot-flavored treats will send the wrong message to kids.
Maybe kids shouldn’t drink coffee, but should they ban coffee ice cream? Maybe kids shouldn’t drink, but we still have rum raisin. Besides, if people think that these lollipops are actually aimed at kids they’re crazy. It’s just a few rebellious teenagers who feel like making a statement or, as unlikely as it sounds, actually like the taste of pot.
Plus, like the article says, the candy contains no THC and most of America hasn’t even heard of them.
